SCHRIMER'S TEST

The Schirmer test is used to evaluate aqueous tear production and is carried out as follows:

a. Sterile paper strips are applied into the inferior-temporal aspect of the conjunctival sac of both eyes.

b. The room is dimly lit, and the patient asked to close their eyes.

c. The wetted length, in millimetres, is measured after 5 minutes.
